GLORIA

GLORIA (Comparing the effectiveness and safety of additional low-dose glucocorticoid in treatment strategies for elderly patients with rheumatoid arthritis) is a European project to study the use of Glucocorticoid in Rheumatoid Arthritis, in which BeyonDevices/Neutroplast participated in the development of a SmartCap for the study.

SmartCap is an electronic monitoring system, to be used with pill bottles, that compiles the dosage history of patients prescribed oral medication. It's a great solution for increasing success in monitoring patients' medication adherence. In addition, the electronic validation capability and integrated visual alerts facilitate monitoring and help patients remember to take their medication.

Potentially SmartCap can measure the time the pack has been open, recording the information online for easy access and processing of the information. The information can be sent to the carer or to the organisation carrying out medical studies for further analysis.
